Books take you
to far off places,
Ancient stone
castles and exciting chases.
Fire-breathing
dragons vs. knights in shining armor,
Which one do
you think is far, far stronger?
Pirates and
parrots and treasure galore,
That’s when I
say “Read me more! Read me More!”
What could
possible be on the stranded Island?
Perhaps it’s a
huge, giant diamond!
Clues, and suspects, and crimes, oh my!
Why did that criminal just have to lie?
And on a snowy day, I sit by fire,
And watch the detective catch that liar.
And when some precious jewels have been stolen
I’m sure Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot could solve this
again!
And when I read a book of some great fantasy,
My eyes can hardly believe what they really see!
And if it’s a book on animals, again, no brob!
I might just have to read this on the job!
But books don’t always have to be make-believer,
Why don’t you find something to show you to weave?
Or maybe you want a book on building
Why not try something on wood-working?
Run out of books? Bored? Don’t worry!
Just rush to your library in a hurry!
Shelves among shelves are books for the taking,
Maybe you can find one for your mother on baking?
Oh wait! There’s one! Just what could it be?
I’ve got to come closer and closer to see,
That this is the book I want for me!
I pull it out from it’s dusty pals,
And I take it to the library check-out gals.
Out from my pocket, I get my card,
And hand it to Miss Lizzy LaMard.
Ah, yes! I have it! My book at last!
And soon this will all be in the past,
I’ll be at home with my brother in a cast.
Chicken, corn and potato mash,
I finish my dinner in a flash.
I race to my
room, and pick up my book,
In no time at
all, I’ve devoured this in just one look.
Hours pass, but
I’m still not tired,
In fact, I’m
completely wired!
Yes, books are
one of man’s best friends,
They have to be
one of the world’s best trends! |
