April is Community
Reads... Gary Soto Month in the Mid-Columbia Region.
The Mid-Columbia Library
System, with support from the Mid-Columbia Library
Foundation, Barnes & Noble, and the
Friends of the Mid-Columbia Library System, is
spearheading Community Reads Gary Soto in 2006. Richland
Public Library is also participating in the program. The
Mid-Columbia Reading Foundation, The Literacy Connection,
and Columbia Basin College are Community Reads
partners.
Gary Soto has written a vast
catalog, including picture books, children's books, young
Adult books, adult novels, poetry anthologies, and works in
Spanish. Additionally, some of Mr. Soto's work can be found
in audiovisual formats, including audio cassette, CD, and
DVD.
Programs and events will occur
throughout the month of April, leading up to Mr. Soto's
appearance at the Mid-Columbia Literary Festival on
May 3, 2006 at Columbia Basin College. For more information
