April is Community Reads... Gary Soto Month in the Mid-Columbia Region.

The Mid-Columbia Library System, with support from the Mid-Columbia Library Foundation, Barnes & Noble, and the Friends of the Mid-Columbia Library System, is spearheading Community Reads Gary Soto in 2006. Richland Public Library is also participating in the program. The Mid-Columbia Reading Foundation, The Literacy Connection, and Columbia Basin College are Community Reads partners.

Gary Soto has written a vast catalog, including picture books, children's books, young Adult books, adult novels, poetry anthologies, and works in Spanish. Additionally, some of Mr. Soto's work can be found in audiovisual formats, including audio cassette, CD, and DVD.

Programs and events will occur throughout the month of April, leading up to Mr. Soto's appearance at the Mid-Columbia Literary Festival on May 3, 2006 at Columbia Basin College. For more information on the Literary Festival, please click here.
